Mango Lassi

Mango lassi is a very delicious and somewhat filling drink. It is great to sip during lunch or for a mid-afternoon snack on a warm day.
Serves 3

  • 1 1/4 cups plain yogurt

  • 1/3 cup cold water

  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice

  • 3/4-1 cup diced fresh mango

  • 2-3 Tbsp honey 

  • 6-8 standard size ice cubes

Put all ingredients except the ice cubes in a blender and blend for ~90 seconds. Then add ice cubes and continue blending until lassi becomes frothy (ice cubes will not fully disintegrate). Remove residual ice.  

To make it dosha appropriate add 1/8 tsp per 6 oz glass of the following spices:

Vata: cinnamon, black pepper, nutmeg

Pitta: cumin seed powder, saffron (two strands)

Kapha: cardamom seed powder, ginger powder 

Substituting papaya for mango makes a lighter and more delicate tasting beverage better for Kapha predominant people.
